A oneshot/song-fic for CatchingWind I have six words for you: NO INTERNET AT FIELD HOCKEY CAMP

5 years old

"What do you want to be when you grow up?"

"An astronaut!"

"An astronaut! Are you sure? What about ghost hunting?"

"Only you and daddy can ghost hunt, mommy!"

"Well, ok. Why do you want to be an astronaut Danny?"

"I want to touch a star!"

14 years old

Years had past from that day. People grew up, Danny included. He was no longer a five year old with a silly dream. He was saving people's lives. Danny no longer had the time to be an astronaut. His grades were falling fast. He had no free time. He was growing farther and farther away from his parents. Maddie was worried for her son. Danny wouldn't talk to her.

"Danny, what happened to being an astronaut?"

"I changed my mind."

"To what? Being a high school dropout?"

"No. I'm going to be a ghost hunter. Just like you wanted me to be."

Maddie was silent. Did she cause this?

Maddie was scared. The disasteroid (as it has been nicknamed) was heading towards Earth. Danny Phantom was nowhere to be seen. It looked like the end. Maddie breathed in. She needed to be strong. For Jazz. For Danny. Speaking of Danny, he wasn't moving that much.

"Listen," Jack started. "I just want you to know that... I love you. And I'm so proud of each and every one of you for trying your best."

"Yes, Maddie started. At least were all together."

Jazz started to cry. "I, oh Mom," she began as a tear ran down her face. "There's something you need to know."

Maddie looked at Danny. He hadn't said a thing. He was as still as a...robot? Maddie grabbed the wig. "A robot!" she cried. " Where's Danny? Jasmine! Where is your brother?"

Jazz looked to the sky.

Maddie gasped. "Jack? Where's Danny?" The portal, the attacks, Danny's disappearances. Each thing was getting closer and closer in Maddie's mind, piecing together like a puzzle. The last one, the ship, clicked into place.

Danny Fenton.

Danny Phantom.

How could she be so naïve?

She was sitting on the roof. After all that had happened, Maddie needed a break every once in a while. She was alive, the world was saved, and she had her family. Maddie still didn't approve of her son's 'nighttime' activities. Sometimes, in moments like this, Maddie could forget everything that happened. Other times, no.

She saw a flash of green light. That would be Danny. He had just figured out how to teleport. Now he would just teleport onto the table when he wanted food. It also bothered his teachers to no end, because he practices by teleporting to each class. Just the other day he-

"Hey Mom." Danny appeared in front of Maddie.

"Hi dear."

Danny looked away and blushed.

Maddie started to get worried. "Danny, is there something wron-"

Danny looked back at her quickly. He interrupted her quickly. "Wanna fly?" He held his hand to her.

Maddie looked at it for a second, then grasped it tight.

"Danny?" she asked. They were sitting on the roof of a random building.

"Yeah?"

"Can you touch a star now?"

"I don't see why not."
