Pain was surging trough her body with every heartbeat. It took a lot of her effort to concentrate on catalyst words. They were so empty to her, pointless, it had no idea how she felt about the resolutions. Three paths, three choices and every single one flawed! Her mind and heart was screaming with rage. She looked at the so called intelligence, but how can it be intelligent, how is it to tell her there is only this way or fight and loose miserably. She gathered her thoughts and turned to "the child" and spilled all of her rage and disappointment.
- You say to me that there is no hope in the organics because we follow to our doom by creating synthetic life, I have proven you that we can reach truce! How can you know if we wouldn't avoid it without your cycles? How can you know that we wouldn't work together in the end. –She took a deep breath, pain was so strong and collecting her thoughts was getting harder.
- You offer me immortality by synthesis but you don't see the big picture! Without death there is no life, there is no change there is no improvements. Immortality is empty, because old when dyeing make space for new and where old won't leave, the new has no chance. I wish I could give the synthetics understanding of organics, they need to learn, they are like children and they should have been treated like ones, we should have shown them the path. We have failed them, but we are trying to rebuild that bond.- Another surge of pain in her side, she gripped it tighter, the moisture was leaking trough her fingers now freely. Exertion was killing her she needed to finish this.
-I wish I had more understanding of you, but I am only human and I do not wish to control you, so much power that belongs to one person never brought any good. Especially that I am bound to my loyalties. – The catalyst seemed restless now was bearing ghost like eyes in to her person. It knew her choice like she knew it the moment she came to it. She didn't like it, the consequences of her choice were weighing heavily on her mind. She switched safety off, checked it and slowly started walking. She didn't say anything to "the child", her thoughts went to EDI, she was going to extinguish her spark, she was going to extinguish Geth, but by doing this she was giving everyone else a chance to change the future, to make sure the mistakes won't be made or they won't be so devastating. That this choice will be written in history of the universe as a lesson, as something to remember and cherish that a new future was given and that the mistakes should not be repeated.
When she chose the path to the right she was thinking of her crew, of the people that made it possible. Of Kaidan of a man who tried to share her burden. Of the life that they have lost and the life they tried to rebuild. When she fired her first shot, she was thinking about Mordin, Ashley, her parents, every single soldier who died under her command, all the friends that have lost their life on different battle fields, and she was begging them all to give her strength. With the last shot she closed her eyes.
She made a choice for the billions choice that was hers but for all of them.
