Disclaimer: I do not own Doctor Who or any of the characters. Although even if I did I can't think of much I'd change, it's that good.

Story: Just a short one set some time after Amy and Rory have found out about the Doctor dying and being unable to tell him. Amy/Rory and subtle traces of Amy/Eleven and Rory/Eleven if you squint really hard.

Rory entered the bedroom to find Amy sitting on the bed. Her eyes had that look again, a sort of far away, brooding, almost enchanted look as if she were in another world. It was a look she only got when thinking about the Doctor. It used to make him jealous, but now their relationship had settled down he no longer felt that way. In truth, he couldn't blame her; sometimes he looked at the Doctor like that as well. The man had brought them both into worlds beyond their comprehension.

"Hey," he smiled, sitting down beside her on the soft mattress and putting an arm around her. "You okay?"

Amy nodded, firmly, jerkily and turned to him, her mouth quirking up a little into a momentary, unconvincing smile. "Yeah, fine."

"You're thinking about him again aren't you?" Luckily Rory didn't need to explain that he didn't mean it in a possessive or jealous way.

Amy let out a sigh. "It's just," and here she turned to Rory to begin her protest. "He goes through so much, and he always thinks he has to do everything alone."

"Well, I suppose he's done that for so long it's become his way," Rory said.

"He saves us all Rory," she said passionately. "But who's going to save him?"

Rory exhaled, feeling suddenly much tireder than he had a moment ago. He pulled Amy closer, stroking her hair. "I don't know, Amy," he murmured, half to himself as well as to her. "I don't know."

He closed his eyes, breathing in Amy's perfume, and thinking of the Doctor with his tweedy jacket, quirky smile, intense eyes. He remembered all the times he'd told Rory not to give up, especially when they'd been trying to save Amy, and the way he'd looked at him like he believed in no one more, even though Rory had thought the Doctor had only ever perceived him as "Amy's loser boyfriend". He'd given him strength, and hope. His mere presence comforted. And Rory knew Amy felt all those things and more for the Doctor too. He sent out a silent prayer to the universe.

Let us help you, Doctor. The way you helped us.
