All was quiet in the waiting room at St. Mungo's. Two of the room's occupants were leaning against each other while they slept. Ron stopped his pacing to look at them in envy. Ginny shifted closer to her husband and rubbed her own large stomach in her sleep. Because of the small movement Harry jolted awake – ever since the war he'd been a light sleeper.
When green eyes met blue ones, Harry smiled encouragingly at his best friend. "No news." It was a statement more than a question.
Ron shook his head then looked back to the set of double doors where his mother was helping Hermione through her labor. "Can't believe they kicked me out," he grumbled for the hundredth time since that particular incident.
"They gave you fair warning," Harry countered in a whisper, trying to not wake Ginny. He gently shifted her head to his shoulder so he could sit up better.
The red head glared at him. "I'd like to see you not freak out when it's your turn."
"It already was," he said with a proud smile.
Ron groaned as he remembered the night James was born. Harry had been the picture of calmness. Only after Ginny and the baby were asleep did Harry share his secret.
"Do you have any more of that Draught you used?" he asked, trying to sound nonchalant. Although he appeared calm – thanks to the Auror training – he was tapping his fingers against his leg whenever he stopped pacing.
The black haired man just shook his head. "You remember how 'Mione reacted when she found out about it."
Ron shuddered at the memory and went back to his pacing, willing one of the Mediwizards to come out with some news.
It wasn't for another few hours before Molly came out, looking like she'd just popped in for a visit thanks to some quick spells. "She wants to see you, Ron," she said with a sweet smile.
Before she was even done speaking, Ron went running past her.
He found Hermione sitting in a bed with a small bundle resting in her arms. Her smile grew when she saw her husband. "Rose, I'd like you to meet your daddy," she said to the pink blanket then looked back up. "Ron, come hold your daughter."
