Prologue - Introducing Jessica
A giant wooden door opened with a squeak of rusty hinges, revealing the silhouette of a man in the darkness...
A little boy curled up on his bed under the duvet, closed his eyes tight...
The man approached the bed and sat down on the edge...
The boy tuned his face away, his little hands covering his ears...
A ligthning flashed...
The thunder almost deafening...
The man reached his hand out, removed the duvet...
The door slammed shut...
Some rocks toppled down from a hill...
A child screamed...
The little boy removed his haed, "Daddy?"
A water drop dropped into a pool of water...
A light lightened...
A hand reached out to her...
A whisper was heard; "Olivia!"
The boy shyly walked along a dark, humid corridor...
A ball bounced against a wall then into the ground...
The man followed the boy along the corridor...
The sound of the thunder faded away...
The lights went out...
WAKE UP!
Olivia shot up the her bed, cold sweat covering her face. Trying to quiet the erratic racing of her heart, she pushed her hair away from her forehead with an unsteady hand. She trembled as the darkness surrounded her, making her quiver. It was still in the dead of the night.
Shakily she got up from her bed, grabbed her nightgown and walked to the kitchen. In the living room, her partner Elliot was soundly sleeping on the couch, his feet dangling from the short end. She opened the fridge and reached for the milk. But her hand accidentally hit a bottle that ended up on the ground, breaking into pieces with a loud sound, waking Elliot up.
"Something's wrong?" he asked, rubbing his eyes and stretching.
"Oh, no. Sorry I didn't mean to..." she started.
"Nah, it's alright!" he smiled, throwing his hand in the air, "What are you drinking?"
"Milk.."
"No good. Make us coffee and we can continue working on the case.." he offered, "..since we're awake!"
And then without wating for her answer he grabbed the casefile from the coffee table and started reading...
The sun began to rise, its golden rays spilling into the house. It had been two hours since they burried their heads to the file. It was then when they heard the weak knocks on the front door.
"What time is it?" Olivia asked, a tired impression on her face.
"Four fourty," Elliot replied, "Any idea who it is?" he asked as he walked to the door. She shook her head no.
Elliot opened the door to find the 14-year-old girl with bruises all over her face and arms, her big brown eyes full of tears as she tried to stand on her feet. Elliot's eyes grew wide open, he was stunned.
"Jessica!" he resounded.
"Elliot..." she cried.
