"But I understand you."

They were from two different worlds, he was a spoiled rich kid who ran away and she was a poor mercenary with a strong moral code. How could someone like her claim to understand someone like him?

"Geitz."

He turned around, and there she was again, a hopeful look on her face.

"Yeah?"

"Listen, I...I had a thought. If you're looking for something to do after this is over, maybe..." She paused, and he could have sworn he saw her blush a little. "You would like to come back to Ilia with me?"

He cocked an eyebrow at her.

"You serious?"

"Yes! Geitz, I...I like you, you're a good person and I know we still hardly know each other, but I want to know you," she said. "So if you would at least consider it..."

He wanted to take her up on that offer, wanted to prove to himself once and for all he could commit to something, that he wasn't destined to be some aimless wanderer for the rest of his life.

But there was still so much of the world he wanted to see.

"I just had a thought of my own," he finally said. "Now, bear with me...what if you traveled with me for a while?"

"W-what?" Her blush deepened. He moved close to her, wrapping an arm around her waist.

"I'm not ready to settle down right away, but I kinda want to know you, too," he said. "So let's travel together and when we've had our fill, we can settle down in Ilia!"

"Just how long do you think you'll need before you've had your fill?" she asked with a wry smile.

"Well, maybe we can make a few stopovers in Ilia if we have to. Y'know, if you get homesick."

She laughed. It was an oddly adorable sound, he realized.

"So? You in or you out?"

Fiora smiled and leaned against him.

"Why not? It will be a chance for me to help people around the world as well as my own," she said.

"It always comes back to that, doesn't it?"

"It's who I am, Geitz."

He reached out to brush a stray lock of hair behind her ear.

"I guess I don't understand your way, then," he said. "But I think I'm starting to understand you."
