It was finally over, and they could breathe again. The Fire Nation was no longer a threat, and with Zuko as its new ruler it never would be again. Together, they'd set right what had gone wrong so long ago.

All throughout the ceremony, even as she listened happily to Zuko's declaration of peace, Katara's eyes remained fixed on the silent, smiling Aang. The hero, the savior...how long ago was it that she'd just found him in the iceberg?

She tried to remember the innocent, goofy kid who asked her to go penguin sledding with him, but all she could see was the wise Avatar standing beside the Fire Lord. His gray eyes seeming to look right into hers from a distance.

Finally, the ceremony ended and the crowd began to disperse. Somehow, they both ended up in the palace's courtyard at the same time, from opposite ends.

"Aang!"

They came together in an embrace, Aang burying his face against her hair.

"Katara," he murmured.

"Aang," she whispered, "I'm not confused anymore. I...I don't think I ever was, come to think of it. I just..."

"It's okay," he said. "It's over, we're free now. Nothing is standing in our way."

She smiled warmly, leaning in to rest her forehead against his until their lips were only inches apart...

"Aang! Katara!"

She sighed, she should have known her father would be looking for her after she'd run off like that.

"We'll finish later," she promised, and he smiled.

"I can wait. We've got the whole rest of our lives, after all."

She took his hand, and they went back to the others.
