It was a calm day down in the Big Harbour. The tugs didn't have a lot of jobs to do, so they were a bit bored.
However, that soon dissipated when the Dispatcher called them in for a work meeting in the late afternoon- which was very rare.
"Luke Morris is coming here to the Big Harbour to spend the night." He informed. "I need three tugs to pull him in, so do I have any volunteers?"
"I'll go!" Hank offered immediately.
"Thank you- anyone else?"
Foduck and George also volunteered to help out before Emily and Theodore could.
"Excellent-he shall be coming in in an hour and ten minutes, so be ready."
"Okay!" They responded.
Theodore and Emily were left disappointed that they didn't get to help.
"Never mind you two- how about I let you two finish your jobs together, then you can be let off a bit earlier? I know it's not a usual occurrence, but it would be unfair if I let you both do too much yourself." The Dispatcher said.
"Alright," they sighed. "Thanks Dispatcher."
And they left, still very disappointed.
...
Later, Foduck, George and Hank were pulling in Luke Morris.
But what none of them were prepared for was a thick fog.
"I can't see!" groaned Hank.
"Nor can I." replied Foduck. "I think we should stop- it's too dangerous to travel amidst the fog with poor lighting."
"Pah- nonsense!" Scoffed George. "I'm sure the harbour is this way!"
And the trio set off.
"Guys, be careful." Luke Morris reminded them.
...
Meanwhile, Theodore and Emily were in their docks about to go to sleep when they noted that no one was back.
"I think we should tell the Dispatcher." Said Theodore.
"I agree." said Emily.
So they went and voiced their concerns.
"Yes they should have been back by now." Agreed the Dispatcher, looking very concerned for the missing tugs.
"Maybe we can go out and look for them? You had new fog lights delivered here the other day." Emily pointed.
"Good idea." Said the Dispatcher. "But be careful okay?"
"Okay!" And they set off to the rescue.
...
Hank was scared and upset. He didn't like being lost.
"I want to go back home!" He said.
"I know, but we can't see!" replied Foduck.
"Not to worry I'm sure we'll find our way home soon." George said confidently.
Suddenly, two bright lights shone through the fog, revealing...
"Emily! Theodore!" They exclaimed.
"We're glad you're alright." Said Emily
"Now come on – just follow us, and we'll lead you to safety!" Added Theodore.
So slowly and cautiously, Emily and Theodore set off, allowing the other three tugs still pulling Luke Morris to follow them to the safety of the Big Harbour.
...
Next morning, Theodore and Emily were praised for their brave rescue the previous night by the Dispatcher and Luke Morris.
"Well done you two! You did a splendid rescue."
"Thanks!" they both replied.
"Thanks for rescuing us last night." Hank added.
"You're welcome." They both replied.
