It was winter. Brigitte just turned 14, and Ginger was almost 15. The clock ticked and ticked…midnight grew closer. A whisper ignited the dark. "Ginger?" The brunette rolled over in her bed and stared at the ceiling. "Ginger," she called once more, feeling as if she's spoken to the cold of the night.

"What is it Bee?" Ginger sat up and rubbed her sleepy eyes. Brigitte sat up as well and sighed. Ginger could hear the sniffs in the dark and she pulled her blankets off, shuffling over to her younger sister's bed. "What's wrong?"

"I don't want to lose you to a bunch of guys. You know how they look at you already?" She looked at Ginger in the dark, and her sister sighed, turning on the light behind her bed. They now had a clear view of each other, tears pouring from Brigitte's eyes. Ginger tilted her sister's face up.

"Out by sixteen or dead on the scene, but together forever. Remember that Bee. I wouldn't forget you. Shit, that's fucked." Bee smiled and Ginger laughed. "You fuckin' smiled." Her eyes caught her sister's, and she leaned forward, kissing her for just a second. When she pulled back, Brigitte looked shocked. "It's just a kiss. I didn't whip one out on you Bee." She smiled and laid Brigitte back down, turning off the light. She paused. "Want me to sleep here?"

Brigitte hesitated for a minute then took a breath. "Yeah." Ginger laid down and pulled the blanket over them, snuggling her body up to Bee's. "Thanks…." Ginger nodded and wrapped her arms around Brigitte's waist. "What are-"

"Shh, go back to sleep Bee. Don't worry about me. I'll be right here when you wake up." She smiled and kissed her cheek before closing her eyes. Brigitte sighed and turned over, facing away from Ginger. Too bad this was always how it was gonna be…
