Disclaimer: I do not own the books Eon and Eona. They belong to Allison Goodman. This is set in the eastern resistance camp thing, shortly after Eona compels Ido to burn his arm.

Ido watched as the small girl entered the tent, carrying a steaming bowl. The child looked to be about six years old. Her round, brown eyes regarded him curiously.

"I brought you soup, Lord Dragoneye" she put the bowl down in front of him, but did not leave as he expected her too. She smiled at him,

"My name is Suki"

She looked down at his hands, bound in shackles. She touched his wrist, red and raw from the iron.

"Ow" she whispered, then looked up at him,

"Why are you all chained up?" He frowned impatiently and said nothing, hoping the child would leave him alone. His hopes were in vain.

She sat down in front of him, staring at him intently.

"The others say you are a bad man. They say you killed the other Dragoneyes"

"I did" he said meeting the child's gaze, surprised not to find fear there.

"Why?" she asked in a soft voice, that for some reason compelled him to answer her truthfully.

"I wanted their power"

"Oh" she was silent for a moment,

"If you are a bad man, why are you here? Helping Emperor Kygo?"

He snorted,

"I don't exactly have a choice" She looked at him solemnly.

"Well I don't think you're a bad man" He frowned,

"I'm a very bad man, especially when nosy little girls ask too many questions"

She just giggled,

"I'm not afraid of you" He sighed but couldn't help smiling, which surprised him,

"Why not? Everybody else is either afraid of me, hates me, or both"

She shrugged,

"I'm just not" She jumped to her feet. She smiled at him then skipped to his side and hugged him, making him freeze in shock,

"I don't hate you, Lord Ido." she whispered,

"I like you" she released him and flitted out of the tent like a little bird, leaving the Dragoneye staring after her in confusion and something almost like wonder.

Please R&R. I just finished Eona today. A short, little first chapter, I know, but I wanted to post it and that seemed like a good place to stop. And for those of you with sick minds, no, the pairing is not going to be Ido/Suki.
