Alternative sickness

It was an unseasonably cold day in Waycross of 2013 and I was visiting my aunt as usual. However due to her recent relationship her mind had become fragmented so that 4 personalities had developed from the original. In addition to her multiple personality's disorder, she had also taken ill with the Asian flu. While this left her generally unable to do anything, I didn't mind helping. After all I was her niece.

"Aunt Mel I'm here." I said

"It's not Mel, but you're welcomed to come in." She said weakly. As I rounded the corner into the living room, I saw Melanie. She was watching a taping of her performance in Blood Brothers, as the scene depicting the twins' death came she began to cry. It was now obvious; it was her motherly personality Mrs. Johnstone.

"Watching them again?" I asked

"Yeah I miss them so much." She sobbed weakly rubbing her 9month pregnant belly. Melanie looked sickly; her eyes were sunken into her head. Her body had become frail and skinny. The only part of her body that seemed healthy was her belly. She looked very weak; she could barely hold her head up.

"Cupcake I feel like I'm floating away." She said weakly.

"Who's taking over?" I asked.

"I don't know." She said weakly. With that she shut her eyes. After a moment her eyes snapped open. She suddenly crossed her legs and began to rub her belly. Her movements and modest demeanor was a dead giveaway. It was her protective personality, Mary Magdalene.

"Kitten its been far to long." She said weakly.

"I know I missed you too." I replied. She suddenly began to mutter something. Then she clasped her hands together. Then she took a deep breath. She exhaled gently. She simply looked over to me and smiled.

"I wanted to pray for Mrs. Johnstone, the poor woman needs it." She said weakly.

"That's sweet." I said. Suddenly she shut her eyes tight. She shifted in her seat as her eyes snapped open. Her head rolled back onto the back of the couch. As she let out a weak sigh. Her actions were obvious it was my aunt, Melanie C.

"Hello Angel. Sorry for the random switching." She said weakly.

"Hi Aunt Mel. It's ok at least they kept me company." I said. I was happy to see her in control for a while it was just like old times. We talked late into the night hugging and crying from the lack of interaction. She even hugged me. It was wonderful.

"How are you feeling?" I asked

"Well not so well Angel I'm..." She said weakly and started vomiting up blood.

"When did you start vomiting up blood Aunt Mel?" I asked.

"Yesterday." She said.

"It must be hard having the Asian flu and being pregnant." I said.

"It is Angel, but it's worth it." She replied weakly rubbing her belly.
