Lying was second nature to her. A lie often snowballed into thousands others. Sometimes, she even managed to fool herself. The few split seconds where she slipped into a blissful life different from hers. But it didn't matter, because reality shattered that delusion sooner or later.

she let the cloak fall onto the ground, the smooth velvet barely making a rustle. Beckoning slowly, her hands trembled slightly as the snowflakes fell gently. The blonde made his way to her, striding cockily out from the shadows.

"Akatsuki sure know how to choose spies," he commented, smirking.

"And ANBU sucks at infiltrating, ja?"winking mischievously, she watched him blanch.

He jerked and reached for his pistol. Tsking, she kicked his pistol away, gripping his neck and lifting him off the ground effortlessly.

"How… How…" he spluttered.

"Baka. Where's my chocolate?"

She released him as he gasped his last, stalking into the dark alley.

"Sakura."

She froze, face-to-face with the last person she'd wanted to see.

"Uchiha, what do you want?"

"It was all a lie, wasn't it?"he demanded coldly, a hidden edge in his voice.

The giggle burst out of her, as though ripped out of her chest, exploding into a full blown guffaw. It felt as though she had stabbed him in his chest. She broke down, falling to the ground, sobbing hysterically. She was always breaking his heart.

Grabbing fistfuls of snow, she shoveled them into her mouth. His cold orbs narrowed, and for a split second, he was truly afraid. He knocked the snow roughly form her hands, patting her back to dislodge the snow in her throat.

"Don't do that."

He pulled her close to him, pressing her cold face against his chest. Her neon pink hair tickled his arms as he reached to clasp her frozen hands.

I don't deserve you. I lied to you. Yet you… BAKA, Akatsuki will hunt you down. I will not let that happen.

Flinching away, she broke away from his warm embrace.

"I lied. I don't love you. Not at all."

Stumbling, she turned and fled, halting only when she heard the loud bang. All that greeted her was a slumped body in the alley. Steeling her heart, she forced herself to continue back to base.

There was another life that had to be saved.
