"Who is that?" Lily murmured to herself, dragging her trunk behind her. The boy she was staring at, and she wasn't the only one, had messy black hair and glasses. He was with a boy with floppy dark hair and no glasses. She had seen, for a fleeting instant, his face, and had immediately decided he was a major hottie.
"Who is what?" someone asked from behind her.
"Oh," Lily said, blushing. "Just this boy."
The girl in front of her rolled her eyes. "Honestly. You need help with that trunk?"
"Yes, please!" Lily said fervently, relieved at the help and also the change of topic of conversation. The girl helped her drag the humongous excuse for a trunk onto the train, then swung it up onto the racks above their heads.
"Now," said the girl, dusting her hands off on her jeans, "All we have to worry about is it falling off."
Lily sat as far away from her trunk as possible. She pulled a magazine out of her backpack. "Thanks," she added hastily.
"No prob," the girl said indifferently, grinning.
Lily smiled back, and started reading the magazine, under which pretense she studied the girl. She had long black hair in an unruly makeshift bun with a few shorter strands coming down in front. Her complexion was bronze and clear, clearer than Lily's, at least, who was breaking out every few seconds, or so it seemed. Lily had noticed that her teeth were white, and perfectly even, as opposed to Lily's brace-covered teeth. She was wearing a simple black tank top, jeans and sneakers. Unlike Lily, who took an hour getting dressed into her pink mini and high heels.
Lily looked down at her magazine. Was she supposed to become friends with such a pretty girl? Surely this girl would appeal more to that total hottie at the station.
