Author's Note: Holy Crapballs, it's been forever! I received a message asking about continuing Senior Year, and all of the ideas I had for this series came flooding back to me. I'm still writing this, but I wanted to throw the first chapter out there and see if there was still an interest. If there is, please review and let me know and I'll continue to crank this out.
Senior Year
Book Two: The Dance
Chapter One
The week passed quickly and the ducks found themselves getting ready for the first day of their senior year. After sitting through another first day speech, they received their schedules and headed to their advisory period. Not surprisingly, the ducks all shared this time. They compared schedules and, all too quickly for their liking, found themselves splitting off for their first actual class. Julie, Adam, Ken and Fulton all headed to their AP English class. After a quick synopsis of the semester, they received their text books and were then left to their own devices for the last few minutes. Their teacher dismissed them at the bell and they all headed on. The rest of the day passed much the same way. At lunch, they all met up at their usual table, where they were joined by Linda. The hour was spend it usual duck fashion.
Besides their first period advisory, the only class that the ducks all had together was their last period class, sociology. "Alright everyone," Mister Kincannon, their teacher, said right as the class started, "before anyone gets too comfortable, I need you to pair up with a member of the opposite sex." The class quickly paired off and was now seated accordingly. "Good. Now this semester, we're going to do the marriage and family unit concurrent with everything else, so, congratulations. By the power invested in me, by being the one standing up front, I now pronounce you husband and wife."
"Ah," Portman replied, "my mom's going to be so disappointed that she missed the wedding."
"I'm sure you'll be able to explain things to her," Mister Kincannon said.
"Obviously you've never met my mother."
The class was soon over and the students were free for another day. Connie headed with Julie to Julie's dorm room, where they worked out who to set up Fulton with. "You know," Julie said as they entered her room, "maybe our sociology class already picked the perfect date for Fulton."
"I was thinking the same thing," Connie replied. "I was thinking Heather already when we first started talking about this."
"Me too. I have fourth period with her. I can talk to her tomorrow."
"Awesome. So, how goes things with Portman?"
"Great," Julie answered with a smile. "And with you and Guy?"
"Good," she answered.
"Good," Julie replied. "Let's try to keep it that way."
"I'm trying...we're trying."
The two friends talked and hung out for a while until Connie had to leave. Not too long after, Portman, Ken, Russ, Luis and Dwayne showed up at her door to escort her down to dinner. All too soon for anyone's liking, it was curfew and they all found themselves in their own rooms. After a call from Portman, Julie settled in for the night, glad that the first day of her senior year was behind her.
