Harry's First Steps
– Sequel to Harry's First Word
"Come on Harry, come to mummy!" Lily cooed holding her arms out wide to her baby son who sat a foot away on the rug.
He gurgled at her and put his arms up in the 'pick me up' position, Lily shook her head with a smile, "No, come on Harry, you come to me. I know you can do it! Come on baby, come to mummy!"
Harry grinned, "Mummy!" and held out his hands but did not move, Lily sighed as her husband, James, walked in carrying a cup of hot chocolate in each hand, "No luck?"
Lily shook her head, "Nope, I think Sirius taught him habits, like don't get up unless alcohol is involved...or sugar" James forced a serious expression,
"Want to try a gin bottle then?" he cracked a smile and Lily shook her head with a trying not to smile at the suggestion.
"Come on!" James pouted, "You know you want to smile!"
"No!"
"Yes!" James knelt down besides her and proceeded to tickle her despite her protests and failing limbs,
"James!"
"Laugh!"
Harry laughed happily on the rug joined by James and, eventually, Lily. James ceased his tickling and smiled at his wife adoringly.
"Not interrupting anything I hope" a snide voice said by the door,
"Ever heard of knocking Snape?" James asked coldly, glaring at the hook nosed man who stepped in to the living room.
"I was sent here by Dumbledore as urgently a possible. I would think knocking would be the last thing on your mind, considering"
"We've survived 18 months in hiding. And we don't need your opinion" Lily replied coolly trying her best to avoid an argument.
"Asshole!"
Snape jumped out of his skin as Harry pulled on his robe, for you see, Harry had picked himself off of the ground the moment Snape had entered and made his wobbly way over to him in greeting.
He now tugged his robe for attention,
"Asshole! Pick up!"
Snape held Harry at arms length, "Here, take your little…erm…bundle of joy…meetings in 5 minuets"
Lily caught Harry just before he disapparated out of the room and to head quarters.
Head Quarters
"What's wrong Severus?" Dumbledore inquired,
"I don't like that child"
