Miku walked out onto the front porch, hoping to get some fresh air. The twins, Rin and Len, had been fighting all afternoon over a game called "Mario Kart" on a strange device called a "Wii." Miku had tried playing it before, but she didn't get the point. She was leaning over the wooden railing when she saw a familiar person sitting under the large apple tree beside the house. His blue hair shattered like glass in the frail wind. Miku walked over to him, waving. "Hi, Kaito-san." She tilted her head to the side, grinning and winking in an attempt to be cute.
Kaito turned to her, showing that he had been eating some chocolate ice cream earlier, as a brown liquid was smeared across his lip. He revealed a sincere smile and replied, "Hello, Miku-chan. How are you?"
Noticing the smudge, she walked closer with her hands wrapped around her. It was the beginning of spring, but there was still a chilly breeze. Miku kneeled down to Kaito, looking him straight in the eyes, and said, "You have something on your face, Kaito-san." Miku wrapped part of her hands around her detached sleeve, and wiped it off.
Kaito blushed a slight shade of pink. "Oh… thank you." Miku's hand had been warm, even though she was obviously cold. Kaito motioned Miku to sit next to him. Sure enough, she plopped down beside him. She was exhausted. "I have bad headache," Miku complained, rubbing her temples. "Rin-chan and Len-kun won't stop fighting."
"It's only their way of showing affection," Kaito laughed. "They don't mean to cause trouble." Miku giggled. It was weird. Miku was only 16 and Kaito was 5 years older, being 21, and she had no problem talking to him.
Now it was going to get awkward. Miku and Kaito couldn't think of anything to talk about.
Ah-chooo! Miku let out a petit sneeze. Kaito immediately said, "Don't catch a cold!" He wrapped some of his scarf around her. "Thank you, Kaito-san…" Kaito loved the way Miku said 'Kaito-san.' He just wanted her to repeat it over and over. Kaito-san, Kaito-san, Kaito-san…
Wait, what was he thinking? Miku was just like a sister to him, nothing else. As he tried to convince himself of that, he realized that he was lying to himself. A sister wasn't just what Miku was to him. She was more than that.
"Miku-chan?"
"Yeah?"
Chu. Kaito reached in and pecked Miku right on the lips. After around 3 seconds he let go, and they were both beat red.
"K-Kaito-san?" Miku stuttered. Her words practically vibrated off of her lips. Miku couldn't believe… that she liked it. Were those her feelings towards Kaito?
"Ooooh!" Rin shouted from the back porch doorway.
"What, Rin?" Len stumbled out of the house.
"Miku and Kaito!"
"Miku and Kaito?"
"Miku and Kaito!"
"Miku and Kaito!" Len understood.
Rin and Len jumped off the porch and ran in circles around Kaito and Miku. Is it possible to be this embarrassed? Miku sent a mental wave to Kaito. The twins started the sing a song.
"Miku and Kai-to,
Sit-ting in a tree!
K-i-s-s-i-n-g!
First comes love,
Then comes marriage,
Then comes a ba-by
In a ba-by carriage!"
