Goldenlake is hosting a Decathlon for the month of July! This is where members can claim a character and/or couple, and then must complete a series of given prompts for their choice. It's a massive amount of fun, and everyone's stories are exquisite and of incredible quality. Anyone can participate, so come join - you have until the end of the month to claim and complete your very own Decathlon! :D A link to Goldenlake can be found on my profile.
My character: Josiane Rittevon.
This piece was written for the 100 word dash.
She stands at the prow of the ship and pretends she is its figurehead, for she is better than some wooden mermaid anyway; she is an ice-and-ivory princess and she can cut through the waters like a knife through tender meat.
The salt sprays in her unblinking eyes and her skirts whip around her ankles, and the crew mutter suspiciously at her, but they are nobodies, nothings, no ones. They are just copper to her gold, raka to her luarin and savage to her Rittevon.
Josiane laughs, and spreads her arms like wings: she is flying to Tortall.
