Madison Watkins looked up at the two-story house one more time. She knew her parents would go on a wild goose chase, desperately looking for her, if not die on the spot after reading her letter, but what else could she do? She couldn't be around them anymore. She shook her head, and started down the street, pulling her hood over her head, not wanting to be recognized. The smaller trail she left, the better. Mattie felt the rain starting to fall. She didn't stop; she didn't even flinch, she just kept going. Good-bye, Mom, Dad...Grandpa. You too, Alex, you little hog. She thought, breaking into a run. After she was past the 'You Are Now Leaving Gotham' sign, she went back into a normal strut, but she didn't pant; she didn't lose an ounce of energy, even though her home was near the other end of the city. She had a certain destination in mind, a place that no one would expect her to go. And then some.
It was night by the time she reached Metropolis, and the rain had stopped falling. She was soaked, but she didn't seem to mind. She was too busy thinking...about events that happened three years ago.
You ever hear of kindness? A sentence of dialog lingered in her mind for a moment, before she snapped back into reality. She noticed an alleyway on her right, and escaped into it. She threw off her hood and rubbed her hair vigorously, taking off the black dye that concealed her white hair on her scalp, that ended at her neck, where natural black hair started. She shook her head afterwards, letting the hair go back to its natural state. She rounded a corner, to a fenced area. Inside the premises were many old, concrete buildings with garage doors. Adorned on each building was 'Miller's Storage', painted in a faint blue. It clearly had been out of business for a long time. Mattie knew her way through this place; she had been here before. She remembered everything clearly now: the office building, the empty storage rooms, and...there. She rounded the corner, and ducked into a hole, until she was in.
Man, this place has gone south. She thought, seeing the spider and cobwebs, and a rat run by. "And it's not coming back north." She added aloud, as if anyone were actually there. She took off her blue contact lenses, that had made her vision blurry, and revealed violet in the place of the blue. Now that she could see clearly, she noticed the blue spinning vortex. She walked towards it, seeing a younger version of herself fall in; a ghost from that memory. She took a deep breath and followed suit.
And that was the last time she would be in the twenty-first century for a long, long time.
Author: YES, I re-did the chapter. So? I didn't like it. If you REALLY hate the new chapter, then fine, flame me. But I might not change it. Sorry that it's short, but...I'm not perfect. Anyways, see you next chapter. Hopefully I can do a real good one. ;D
