She sees the rock and her brain locks. She can't think, but her mouth makes the link. She screams, "Cato! Cato!" Her first time to be struck with fear. She hears her name in her ear, but it's nowhere near. She thought she was immortal all these years, but the fear is real, and her fate is sealed. The stone strikes against her skull. Pain spikes but soon it will dull. There's the name she wants to call. Same one as before, but her mouth won't work anymore. There are words all around, but she can't make out the sounds. Colors are disappearing just like her hearing, but she can tell that those beings are fleeing. Someone's nearing and appearing in her vision. She can't tell who it is, but the voice is his, whoever it was. The world is fading. She doesn't know what he is saying, only that it's something about staying. There's a spear and a tear, he touches her cheek, she closes her eyes, now too weak, and the pain goes with her soul. It leaves her body drained of life like the knife on the ground once found in her hand. Her demise only means they're all closer to the prize, the teens shown on all the screens across Panem fighting for their lives hoping to be the one that survives.
