Title: The End
Description: Written in Liara's POV. She is on the ground, fighting with the troops while Shepard and her team made a push for the beam. This is what happened after the Crucible fired.
Truth be told, it was thought she couldn't do it. But I knew that if anyone could, it was Commander Kasey Shepard. The past several years had been tough for those of us who had been on the original Normandy when it was destroyed. Shepard was dead. All hope for the galaxy was gone. And then I was contacted by Cerberus...
The Reapers were winning. We were losing and then...The Reapers fell.
It was over? The ground troops around me looked around, just as confused as I am. It was over.
"It's over! Shepard fucking did it!" Crowed a nearby Marine causing others to join in noisily. They celebrated. And while I know I should have been as well, cheering for the fact Shepard defeated the Reapers, I knew that she was likely gone. She had done her job. And done a damn fine job.
But she did it. By the Goddess, Shepard had did it.
I slumped, exhausted, against a broken down Mako, gun clattering to the ground at my feet as I watched those around me continue to celebrate. And they had every right too.
Shepard had faced all odd and brought the entire galaxy together. And won. It was a bittersweet victory in my eyes. Those I observed did not know Shepard personally as I had. But they were all moved by her influence. I...
My left hand shifted to settle over my armored stomach. I had given her a gift. Memories. A farewell. But there was something unspoken between. Something that we both agreed upon.
If she were to give her life defeating the Reapers, her lineage was gone. She would be ripped from me. Again. In the giving of my gift, we made our decision. If it was meant to bed, and I survived, I would bare her child. A piece of her would always be with me. And if she happened to survive as well...
I needed to rest. It was over, I reminded myself. My eyes slipped closed. Distantly, I could hear someone calling my name, asking if I was ok. But I had no energy left to answer.
It was over. Time to sleep for a long, long time. As I began to drift away with the sleepy current of my mind, I felt myself being lifted into strong arms.
"Lola will have my balls in a vice if I let something happen to you, Blue. Let's get you to Chakwas."
The voice was familiar. Safe. My cognitive skills were asleep though. The rest of me, mind and body, soon joined as the person carried me away from the battle ground.
Author's Note: Short but sweet, I think. This originally started out as a one shot. Continuation depends on the feedback I get. R&R! Thanks for reading!
