Disclaimer: I doth not owneth Harry Potter.

What was Dumbledore really doing in the room where the Mirror of Erised resided before being moved to hold the Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone? This is my version of what Dumbledore really saw in the Mirror of Erised.

Lights, CAMERA! ACTIOOOOOOOOOOON!

*sigh*…the light blub burnt out didn't it?

Desire, Desire

'What do you see in the mirror, Proffesor Dumbledore?' the young voice of Harry Potter asked.

'Me? I see a pair of brown wooly socks…' I answered, I looked at the mirror. The figure remained there, smiling at me.

The young boy looked at me questionably.

'No one ever gives me socks anymore, they expect that I would require books and such, now of to bed Harry.' He nodded solemnly and walked out the room, stopping only to pick up his father's invisibility cloak and look book at the mirror once more.

Harry Potter walked out and Dumbledore waited until the footsteps faded before he turned to look at the mirror once again.

Inside the mirror, was the reflection of him, holding the Resurrection Stone, and Ariana, his only, deceased, sister.

She smiled and waved at him. A tear dropped onto his cheek from his glistening eyes.

He blinked for a second, and wiped away his tears with his sleeve.

She had turned and had reached her arms to hug him and then released him and handed him a pair of brown wooly socks.

The socks had long been worn out and gone, but it was the last present Albus Dumbledore had ever received from his one and only beloved sister.

Blinking back tears, he tore his eyes from the mirror, and decided to take his own advice. To not to attached to the Mirror.

He walked out of the room, not looking back again.

End of Desire, Desire.
