Straight after the last episode, I had a flash of inspiration as a few things slotted together for me (I'm a sucker for continuity/clues) and I can't wait until I can see if I'm right...
Summary: Samuel had his own reasons. And his reasons should pass on to his grandson's if only they knew…
Dean's mouth gaped open in the most uncharacteristic fashion for him. Sam stood there stunned, having received his soul in the last few weeks the feeling of emotions rushed through him unnaturally - overwhelmingly - as they had been sorely missed while stuck in hell.
"Sorry-" Dean half stuttered, "our parents are where?"
"Purgatory." Samuel replied simply, as easily, as factual as he had announced the first time.
The time Crowley had informed him of the fact, he almost found it easy to believe. The clues were all there; he had met that MIT genius Ash in heaven who told him he couldn't find Mary or John, he felt as through something was missing even in heaven but even worse, an angel had confirmed it. Mary and John hadn't made it to heaven and John had already clawed his stubborn mechanic - Samuel could still not grasp the idea of John being a hunter - ass out of hell so they couldn't be there.
He was doing Crowley's bidding for himself. Because he just couldn't imagine Mary, with her golden halo of hair and her little lopsided grin, being stuck with all the things he had hunted.
He was doing it for his own reasons.
He was doing it for his daughter.
For Mary.
