Prologue: Chicago

rolled out of bed, into my outfit. Marcus Holloway. He and DedSec went down in history as the team that took down ctOS 2.0 in San Francisco. I opened up my phone, and contacted Jordi. "Jordi, I need a car. Aiden asked to meet at Blume's main headquarters, and I OBVIOUSLY can't get there just using my feet. Oh, and don't make it too flashy, either." I said, ending the call.

Sure enough, outside my apartment in The Loop, a black 571 muscle car parked up. I disconnected my phone, shoving it into my pink bomber jacket's pocket, put my laptop into my bag and my RC Jumper. I closed the bag, shutting off my desktop computer and locking my room's door.

Just as I was about to get into the car, ctOS's street cameras detected me, sending at least two cop cars to me, all because of this stupid "crime" I committed. Actually, I never even did anything! Just because I'm a young unemployed woman with hacking talent and a stun gun, my threat probability skyrocketed way up into the 80% range, so every time I step outside unprepared, cops show up at my door, guns drawn. As expected, the cop cars arrived. I just need to text Jordi, I thought. I opened up the secured chat and sent a message to him: "HELP. Cop cars, too many. Need assistance." And pressed send.

They still hadn't stopped searching. I was running out of hiding spots fast. A cop spotted me, but I quickly stunned him and took his pistol. Unfortunately, the stunned officer's screams of pain alerted the other officers. There was nothing I could do. I surrendered. I dropped the pistol I...borrowed, and put my stun gun in the laptop bag where they couldn't see, though it would probably get confiscated at the station.

The rough steel handcuffs tightened around my wrists. I heard the officers laughing as they stuffed me into the trunk of their all black Kigan AWD SUV.

ONE_DAY_LATER

I woke up, struggling to readjust to the lighting change. I'm in a cell, I thought, as I smacked my fist into the pillow on the bed. Well, if a steel slab counts as a bed. I went back to sleep, seeing as that's about all I could do besides eat. No phone, no Jumper, no laptop, damn it! I thought angrily.
