"And I don't want the world to see me, cause I don't think that they'd understand. When everything's made to be broken, I just want you to know who I am!" Roxas sang along to his mix CD while he cried and laid on his bed. "…when everything seems like the movies, yeah you bleed just to know you're alive!"
A slit to the wrist and a gasp as Roxas watched the blood trail from his wrist and into his palm. As much as he would normally detest to this kind of thing, he had to admit that this actually made some of the pain in his heart go away. He wiped some of the tears with the back of the hand that was holding a small pocket knife which now had blood on the blade.
He hissed as he cut his wrist in the opposite direction. More tears rolled down his eyes as he watched a single drop of blood get onto his bed and form a tiny puddle. More drops followed and he didn't even notice Axel walk in.
"Roxas! What the hell are you doing?!" He walked over and grabbed the blonde's wrist below the two cuts. "Give me that knife."
Roxas continued to cry and handed over the knife while wiping the tears away and breathing harshly. "A-a-axel…I'm sorry." He whined, music still playing in the background.
"Roxas. Look at me." Axel stared intently at the boy. When he didn't move his head, Axel grabbed his chin and gently moved his face so he was looking at him straight in the eyes. "Roxas, what is your problem? You can't be doing this! You could kill yourself or something and nobody wants that."
Roxas simply cried more and nodded his head, wiping more tears away. He suddenly wrapped his arms around Axel's torso and buried his face into the pyro's shoulder and neck area. Axel slowly hugged the other boy, raising a hand to stroke his hair gently. A gentle quietness filled the room and the only noise came from Roxas sniffing and making little sad noises.
"Roxas, are you calm enough to tell me why you were cutting yourself?" Axel looked down at the boy and asked the question as gently as possible. He noticed that the boy fell a bit more silent than before. Roxas then nodded and told how he was upset about being a Nobody and part of something evil and not really knowing himself well.
"Axel….please. Do me a favor and stay with me for a few days. I don't want anyone to see these scars, and I want you to get food for me and stay with me and….I don't know, just hang out with me. Please Axel; it's only for a few days." Roxas looked up at the boy with his tear-stained face and big, blue eyes that were still watering a little.
"Of course I will. Just promise that you won't ever do this again…I never want to see you inflicting any sort of self-harm." Axel stared into the other's eyes, sensing a form of closeness that needed to be there for his comfort.
"I promise." Roxas said quietly and laid down on the bed again, staring at Axel while trying to will the tears to go away. "I'm so tired. Let's go to sleep."
A glance was thrown at the clock that said 9:30.
"Okay." Axel picked up the boy and laid him properly in the bed. He then pulled the covers over Roxas' small frame and sat down on the ground next to him. He began to weave his hands through thick hair, then he brushed the boy's bangs out of his face.
"Such a lovely boy." He muttered softly and smiled at the blonde. It only took a few seconds for him to see that the boy had fallen asleep. Axel looked at the boy's face, noticing all the features of his body and face. The way he looked when he was so peacefully asleep, the way his hair cutely played itself in all directions, and Roxas' amazingly thin, small body that he for some reason found very cute.
'iWait, what am I thinking?! This is Roxas, he's my best friend and nothing more. He never will be anything more anyways! That'd be weird!/i' He shook his head gently and continued staring at the boy.
