Talk To Me
Jackson stormed out of the pub, his ears finally popping as he hit the cold night. The tears falling down his face were burning his skin, making his cheeks red raw, but still he couldn't feel it. The sharp pain shooting through his chest far out weighed anything else.
"Jackson. Jackson wait!"
He was beginning to wish he was still blocked from the club's pounding music, as he could hear Aaron's pathetic cries. He didn't stop. He couldn't even bring himself to slow down.
"Get lost Aaron."
"No I need you to wait. I need to explain."
"Explain what? We have been together six months and it has taken me this long to realize you don't feel the same way that I do."
"I…I…"
Aaron stuttered incoherently.
"You know how I feel about you, but tonight you just proved you don't feel the same."
"How can you say that?"
"Since we got together this relationship if you can even call it that has been about you. I know I put pressure on you to come out and I do regret that, but you were right before this is your first relationship so how can I expect you to know how you feel? If you want to date other people you should. You have your whole life ahead of you."
"I never meant it like that. I've never had anyone give a damn about me. Everyone who has said they love me has abandoned me or given up. I have all these feelings for you, my mam, Paddy all going round in my head that I don't know what to do with and then you go and say you love me and it terrifies me. What did you want me to say? It's not that I don't I am saying I don't know. So I have lost you."
"No Aaron. You never had me. If you met 'The One' you would know. You wouldn't be able to stop yourself from shouting it from the roof tops. Maybe I'm just not the right person."
"Don't say that."
He grabbed Jackson's arm to restrain him.
"Aaron all I want is for you to be happy."
"And I am happy with you."
"No you're not. It's over."
Jackson forcefully shrugged away his touch and climbed into the van. He started the engine and slowly put the van in gear as Aaron banged his hands on the window.
"Stop. Jackson. Please. Wait."
Tears blurred his vision as he pulled away; he gripped the steering wheel so tight that his knuckles were white. He refused to look back at his ex-boy friend crumpled in a heap on the ground.
'Just Say Yes.'
His mobile was on the seat beside him and it started blaring out the ring tone he had assigned to Aaron. He could see his name flashing on the screen. He chanced a look down.
'No go away. Please.'
He groped blindly to turn it off. He couldn't deal with Aaron calling him all night.
Then everything went black.
He could hear blurred noises around him, but he couldn't see. Then the white light came, it burned his eyes as he squinted directly into its glare. His final thought, which brought a smile to his face as it did seem strange, as everything returned to black around him was 'I'm sure that was a train.'
