She sighed and opened her eyes as he settled on the edge of the bed. He looked exhausted, frightened, and, in some way, smaller than usual. She took another deep breath, listening to the bustle of the nurses at their station outside the door.

"It happened again." His voice, soft, unsteady, shook her from her thoughts.

"Just now?" Her chair scraped the floor as she pulled it closer.

"No, during the CT."

"That mig-" She paused, trying to push away the emotion. "That might actually be beneficial. The doctors should be able to look at the scan and determine what section of your brain was active while the hallucination occurred."

He nodded, leaning forward. Their knees bumped. "It's still not the best sensa-" He let out a shaky breath. "I just… I just hate feeling like I'm not in control." She watched as fear clouded his strong features once more. Never in their four years as partners had she seen him looking this helpless (Well, except for when he'd pulled her out of the dirt. Though, giddy joy had quickly taken over then); she never wanted to see it again. "I don't understand what's happening to me, Bones."

"It'll be all right, Booth. We'll find out what's going on. The doctors here are leaders in their respective fields. They'll look at the CT scan and the results of your blood work and they'll have a clearer idea of what's going on. It could just be stress, but the frequency of the hallucinations suggests there's some other underlying–" The rest of her sentence was cut off as he pulled her to her feet and wrapped his arms around her; the force of his embrace causing her to stagger a bit.

"Now we're even." There was a lightness in his voice she hadn't heard since they'd arrived at the hospital; she smiled.

"That doesn't mean you can go anywhere, Booth." The words muffled against his chest as her hands ran up and down his back.

He nodded and pulled her closer.
