Seven's voice was soft, and it broke her heart.
Kathryn forced a smile on her face, grasping at her cup of coffee. She knew she should say something, comfort her. But she couldn't help wishing for everything to go back to normal. Back to when she could have Seven in her quarters every other night, talking and sitting a bit too close. Keep a hand on her leg and cling to her belief that they would one day be together.
Now she had nothing.
Seven was capable of stronger emotions than she'd thought, just not for her.
"Good night, Seven." Her voice came out a raw whisper.
Sickbay was quiet after Seven left. Too quiet. Kathryn wanted nothing more than to hide in her quarters until the sinking feeling in her stomach disappeared, if it ever would.
She'd recognized the look on Seven's face while in Unimatrix Zero. Seven looked… at home.
