Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter.

Author's Note: I put this up several years ago, but took it down again recently because I wanted to edit it, also it bothered me that some people thought so low of me for writing it! So before you read this, I need to tell you something.

This was an exercise for me in writing my absolute least favorite pairing. Even JKR says it's unhealthy! She could have put George with absolutely anyone else! But I won't rag on JkR, because Harry Potter are her books after all!

So, as you read this, please know that I absolutely do not agree that this is a healthy relationship! I just took this as a writing prompt, and wanted to see where I could go with it.

Mistaken Identity

By: ChoCedric

Angelina's sitting at her boyfriend, Fred's, funeral, right next to his identical twin. She's never seen George look so bleak, and she tries to help him through his overwhelming pain. But she can't help but look at him and see Fred, even if he is missing an ear.

In the days afterwards, it's hard for her not to mistake George for Fred, and it makes her feel sick every time she sees her boyfriend's smile when she looks at him. Sometimes she feels like pretending that all's still right with the world, that George is Fred, that she can have her life go back to the way it used to be.

Over the years that follow, she and George develop an unusual relationship. Some say it's unhealthy, but all she knows is that both of them see Fred in each other, and they take comfort from that fact. Some people even say it's sick that she married her boyfriend's twin, but it's the way things ended up working out. But throughout the rest of her life, Angelina always feels as though there is something missing, a part of her that should be there. And she still sees Fred's face when she wakes up every morning and plants a kiss on George's lips.

When Angelina finds out she's pregnant, she bursts into tears. This wasn't meant to happen! She and George got carried away on the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts, and now she doesn't know what to do.

And nine months later, she has the answer. When the baby arrives, with his tuft of red hair and mischievous blue eyes, she and George think of the perfect name. It is only natural, Angelina thinks, as she takes George's hand, to call him Fred II.

Author's Note: In my opinion, yuck! Please tell me what you think! If Fred was a real person, I hope he'd be haunting them forever!
