A cute little one-shot. Just an idea that popped up while I was watching it.

Enjoy :D

"It's my dream." The words rang in his ears like echoes. He shouldn't have gone to see her. It just complicated matters even worse. He remembered Haley's advice but he didn't know what to do.

"Stop hiding your heart." Another one. Another piece of advice that she's given him that actually made a difference. He wanted to listen to the words but after everything that happened, he didn't know if he had it in him.

What would he do if he picked the wrong girl? His heart threw him three different ways. Which way would win? He hardly knew himself.

He looked up and watched as the people around him whispered and gathered their things for their flights. He was in the airport with two tickets. What to do now? He picked up his phone and stared at it before taking a breath and dialing the familiar number.

"Hello?" The voice warmed his heart and he smiled to himself. "Hello?"

"Hey."

"Luke? Where are you? I can hardly hear you over all the noise." This was it. He prepared himself as the words flew out of his mouth.

"I'm at the airport and I have two tickets to Las Vegas. Do you want to get married tonight?"

The silence frightened him a bit. He wasn't sure whether he had scared her off or not.

"Are you serious Lucas?" Her tone made him jump. It was a playful one. As if it was all a big joke or misunderstanding.

"Yes, I'm serious Brooke."

She laughed lightly. "Luke, married? I can't run off to Vegas. Are you drunk again?"

"Brooke, the flight leaves in thirty minutes. Take it or leave it." He didn't mean to sound so harsh. He just felt foolish for asking the question. It didn't help that she thought it was all a big joke.

That's when her tone changed. "Lucas, you can't just throw this on me at the last second. It's a big deal and married? Lucas, what are you thinking?"

"I'm thinking I want to get married to you."

He could hear her sigh. "No you don't." He was confused at her behavior. Did she not like him the way he thought she did?

"Why not?" He didn't want to push her.

"It's not right. Sure, we've been getting closer because of Angie and everything but we remain friends, as we should."

"Do you not like me?"

She sighed and her eyes watered. "Lucas, I love you and I'll always love you but you belong with Peyton."

"Why does everyone say that? I don't want to be with Peyton!" He was tired of everyone saying that about him. He didn't want her.

"Everyone can see it, that's why. Why don't you go alone and take some time away from all this drama."

"Come with me." He was going to argue.

"Lucas, I can-"

"I love you Brooke."

"Lucas, how can you say that? How will I know this time will be different? You were about to get married about a month ago and you were pining for Lindsey about a week ago." She paused. "I don't want to be the rebound."

"You won't be. Just come with me. It'll be different, I promise."

"Don't make promises you can't keep Luke."

"Brooke, I promise. We both need time away and this will help. For once, do something for yourself and not Peyton or the store or anyone else."

"But Peyton is still so hurt."

"Peyton will be hurt but that doesn't mean that you have to be hurting with her."

She gave a tiny laugh. "She is my best friend, you know."

"I know but just think about it. We can leave and we'll be back in a week. I already told Haley I was going, so she'll know."

"Luke, I don't know."

"Brooke, I need to know now. The flight leaves soon. Will you go with me or not?" The silence made him more nervous than he was before. He didn't know what he would do without her by his side on this trip. He had chosen and he hoped that she had too.

"I'll be there in ten."
