Before they are soaked to the machinery that keeps them alive and moving, the rag-dolls find cover. Another falling apart building. 3 and 4 explore the inside, always cataloging. 7 and 9 stay and sit by the door watching as rain falls just a little bit harder.
9 can't help but feel lighter, when 1 smiled at him he knew he had been forgiven. He and 1 had made amends. He could feel the others joy all around him; 2, 5,6,8 and 1 were finally free. He knows the aren't gone, though, because of the rain. They gave back what they knew they always had; life.
He watches as the rain dissipates, clouds moving to show a blue sky. A multicolored band appeared, too. He doesn't know what it means,he can just tell that it is good. He doesn't know how or why he just simply knows. 7 let's out and an astonished 'Wow' she like him, wants to know what it means.
At some point 3 and 4 had come back and were standing behind him and 7. They're eyes flickered and 3 shows a picture of the same colored band with a definition: rainbow: a symbol of peace and joy. Usually formed on rainy days. 9 and 7 smile and look back at the two realizing their presence.
"C'mere you two," She said playfully, grabbing them by the wrists so they can sit with her and 9. 3 and 4 smile and comply, happy to be near the other rag-dolls. 9 laughs when they squirm between him and 7, trying to get comfortable.
He likes this, whatever he's feeling. Warmth,happiness,closeness... He looks at them, 3,4 and 7. Then out of nowhere like a foggy memory the word 'family' etches itself across his brain.
He ponders for a minute what the word could mean. Then let's it go. Maybe he doesn't need to know. Feeling just might be enough for now.
