Chapter 1
"Enjoy the spotlight" Naomi flipped the switch, allowing everyone to see Oscar's 'cocktail frank,' as Ivy described. The two girls walked away as a crowd gathered to watch and laugh at the devil squirming.
"The show is over" Oscar turned around to see a beautiful brunette walking into the pool, still dressed, towards him. She walked right up to him and wrapped her arms around him, covering anything worth seeing, or laughing at. The crowd began to dissipate, and all Oscar did was watch: the strands of the girl's curly brown hair hitting the sides of his face as she looked around, her mesmerizing hazel eyes, her perfect teeth—"What are you even doing here?"
Oscar looked at her, not knowing what to say. "Hello? Do you speak English? "
"Yes, of course I do" He wanted to bang his head against a wall for acting like such an idiot.
"You really speak English, nice accent"
"Thank you?" Oscar looked at her confused, "Why are you helping me?"
"I won't as you question, and you don't ask me any" She took her jacket off and wrapped it around his waist, "My car is just behind those bushes"
"May I ask, what is your name?" Oscar tried to break the ice after a few minutes in the car, still feeling uncomfortable with a bare bottom on the car seat, and a little black jacket over his lap.
"Aara Shehzadi"
"Oscar" He said, "Just Oscar" She giggled, and he turned away.
"I am sorry; I just don't hear that name very often"
"So you think it's funny?" She had such a sweet laugh.
"Just a little" She stopped in front of an apartment complex, "Power of a GPS, here you go"
"Uhm…" He wanted so much to ask her for her number, or when he was going to see here again, or where she lived, but he didn't, "…Thank you"
"My pleasure" She said, "Goodbye Mr. Cocktail Frank"
He smiled and turned away, trying his best to cover all of his areas with the tiny jacket.
"Navid, I'm home"
"What are you so chipper about?" He walked into the kitchen; Aara looked at him confused.
"Didn't you have a date with Adrianna?"
"No, why?"
"I mean, after the whole red-carpet stunt that she pulled, I sort-of thought that you would want to spend time with her"
"You know, lately I don't really want to spend time with her"
"She loves you"
"We are not having this conversation again Aara"
"Navid" He walked away and up the stairs while Aara stood alone in the kitchen. She stood alone in the kitchen and let out a sigh just as the doorbell rang. "I got it!" But Navid could care less.
"Hey Aara" Adrianna was at the doorstep, still in her little black dress, "Is Navid here?"
"He is in his room"
"Can we talk for a second?" Uh-oh, were the first thoughts that came to her mind. What did she want to know? Is she suspicious? What was she going to say?
"Yeah, sure…what's up?" They walked back into the kitchen.
"I don't know how to say this, or what…" Adrianna stuttered, "I love him so much, and I would give up everything for us to be normal again." She took a deep breath, "Is there someone else?"
Aara stared at her new friend and blanked, she knew there was something, but she didn't want to jump to conclusions. She didn't want to hurt Adrianna. She took a deep breath, and looked straight into her friend's eyes, before she answered.
