I stand upon the cliff gazing down. I see the waves crashing upon the rocks. I imagine I can feel the spray hitting me up here. The roar of the ocean drowning out the cry of the gulls. A light rain has begun to fall. The chill goes to my bones as I stand there still. My mother was right. I don't have enough sense to come in out of the rain.
The smoke smell is dissipating. The rain putting out the last remaining embers of the pyre I had built for my family. If I turned my head slightly I could see walkers roaming thru the town. A small herd had killed my family as I was scavenging. They were the only thing that kept me going. There was no point anymore.
I kissed the locket I wore that held pictures of my sons. I would be joining them soon. I lifted my face up to sky and opened my mouth to let the rain fall on my tounge.I step closer to the edge.
Rivlets of dirt and rock crumble beneath my toes. I slowly turn my back to the ocean and look at the remains of my final home. I spread my arms out and take a step back. I fall silently. The oceans roar gets louder and I feel the spray for real. The sharp bright pain is the most I've felt since I found my family's remains. All goes black as I leave this world to the dead and join my loved ones once more.
