It isn't just a Wasp

On a very bright Saturday morning, Hinata decided to go and get some ramen at Ichiraka's for an early lunch. She blushed a little, knowing that her long-time crush would probably be there as well.

So off she went to the small shop, where indeed, Naruto sat. The blond boy was devouring a very large bowl of noodles, and didn't notice when Hinata took the seat next to him.

"H-hello, N-na-naruto," she greeted him in the very usual soft tone she had.

"Hm?" he said, putting down his bowl. "Oh, hey, Hinata!"

The girl could just feel her face burning, and felt it burn even more as Naruto made that comment about how she should get that checked.

Then she ordered a small bowl of chicken-flavored ramen, with an egg roll on the side. For the three minutes she waited for it, Naruto babbled on and on about how someday he'd become Hokage. But of course, Hinata didn't mind. All she did was look down at her lap, listening with even more compassion than with which Naruto spoke with.

When her meal was served, Hinata took one bite of her egg roll, and then was surprised by a slightly over-sized wasp. She gasped at the sight of it; the genin was terribly frightened by the insects. It was shameful, she knew, but she just couldn't help it.

Naruto noticed, somehow, that his peer was in distress. He asked, concern in his voice, "What's wrong, Hinata?"

Hinata felt tears about to escape her eyes. No, not in front of Naruto, she commanded herself repeatedly, although it didn't seem to help. "Th-the w-w-wasp!" she managed to speak as she pointed to the buzzing thing flying above her.

"Huh? Is that a joke or something?" Naruto scratched his head in confusion.

"N-no... I... the... w-wasp..." Hinata choked out as she fought to keep her tears from emerging.

But then she could take it no more. She dove towards Naruto in pure fright, her arms around him, and kept her eyes shut as she sobbed loudly.

"H-hinata..." At first, Naruto didn't know what to do or say, but then he felt a certain warmness in his body; he never felt such a sensational feeling when he was with Sakura. He said in a comforting voice, "It'll be okay, Hinata. It's just a wasp."

Hinata looked up into Naruto's blue eyes and saw what she'd always longed to see in them. Love. Love for her. She replied, "No, it isn't just a wasp."

She didn't know if he knew what she meant by that or not, since he was so dense at times, but it didn't matter to her. He loved her. Naruto loved her. The girl was overflowing with joy as he embraced her and she did the same to him.

It isn't just a wasp, the words echoed in her mind.

A/N: So, I hope everyone enjoyed this little fic. It's dedicated to my younger sister, who, when a wasp flew into her bowl of cereal, ran right into my arms. Well anyway, please review! Thanks!

( I do except flames and constructive criticism, but I'd appreciate it if you didn't sound like a total brat when giving it. Thank you. )
