The Moon Is Watching Me

The full moon shone overhead. Its pale light washed over everything until even the darkest shadows looked soft and blue. Around a long since roaring fire, sleeping bags spread out on the cold hard ground, the travelers deep in their cloth.

Sokka was awake and he had eyes for only one thing. Yue. Her beautiful light seemed to cleanse him in a refreshing bath. He sighed feeling a longing deep in his soul that only the moon could mend.

He heard soft footsteps behind him and Sokka swiveled around only to find a face showered with vibrant makeup staring straight into his eyes.

"Suki!" Sokka whispered."What are you doing up this late? I thought everyone was asleep."

Suki smiled and sat down next to him. "I was going to ask you the same thing."

Sokka wanted to smile back at her, he really did, but something, maybe it was Yue, stopped him and all he could do was look into his lap. Suki scooted closer. "Is something wrong, Sokka?"

There it was again, that achey feeling he got whenever the full moon was out, or when he was with another girl.

Yue was the first girl Sokka had ever loved. She was so beautiful and he had seen her sacrifice herself and shoot into the sky, becoming the moon with his own eyes. Now, Yue was gone and all that was left was this gaping hole inside of him.

Suki put two fingers beneath his chin and lifted his damp face towards hers. "Sokka, I know you are feeling troubled right now but believe it or not, I know how you feel," Suki paused and looked down," But I think I can help."

Sokka stared right into Suki's blue eyes and he couldn't help but feel a smile spread onto his lips. Suki leaned across and griped his bare head in her hands. She parted her lips and fluttered onto his. He closed his eyes and grabbed her waist and kissed her back, their lips joining into one and when they parted Sokka felt Yue's spirit descend upon him and she was smiling.

Just then the gaping hole seemed to fill up just a little bit and when Suki laid her head against his chest, Sokka couldn't help but feel this warm sensation that brought hope and happiness and he knew that Yue was with him still even if he couldn't see her.

"Thanks Suki. I feel a lot better now."He whispered into her ear. She just sighed and under the beautiful shining moon they both fell asleep in each other's arms.
