[TRAINING TO BE THE BEST, PROLOGUE: MEETING OUR HERO]

Early morning, a time when the only sounds able to be heard in Littleroot Town are those of the Taillow singing the dawn chorus. In one particular house, a boy was just rousing from slumber to the singing Pokemon outside. This boy, whom we'll come to know as Takashi, would today embark upon his first steps to becoming a Pokemon Trainer...

[Takashi's House, 7:30 A.M.]

Walking out the door with a piece of toast in his mouth, Takashi said a muffled "Bye!" to his mother, whom stood at the door with a concerned look on her face, knowing of the potential perils a Pokemon Trainer could face.

'I certainly hope he doesn't get into as much trouble as Ash did when I was travelling with him..." May thought to herself, watching as Takashi headed for Professor Birch's lab.

[Birch's Lab, 7:45 A.M.]

Takashi keyed in the entry code to Professor Birch's front door, a code he'd been given five years ago when he'd started doing odd jobs around the lab for the ageing scientist.

"Professor Birch, it's me; I'm here to get my first Pokemon!" Takashi called out. From behind a computer bank, a muffled clunk sounded out, followed by some muffled profanities as Takashi's uncle Max stood up, rubbing his head in pain.

"Agh... Hey Takashi, the professor's out running some errands at the moment, but he gave me the go-ahead to give you your starter Pokemon, Poke Balls, and Pokedex." Max said, ushering Takashi to a large case that encompassed an entire wall of the lab.

"Within this case lies Poke Balls containing the three starter Pokemon of each region we've come into contact with so far." Max said. "Three types each: Grass, Fire, and Water-Type Pokemon. You've already been taught what's what, so the decision on which one you recieve is entirely up to you, Takashi."

Takashi's eyes wandered along the shelves, three shelves of two consecutive rows each, containing the starter Pokemon for the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, and Kalos Regions. Eventually, his eye settled upon a Poke Ball containing the Fire-Type for the Kalos Region.

"This one!" Takashi exclaimed, picking up the Poke Ball. Max smirked.

"Oh, boy. Like mother, like son; picked the Fire-Type. At least you didn't pick something that becomes part Fighting-Type in its' later forms."

Takashi chuckled slightly, as his uncle then proceeded to hand him his first five blank Poke Balls and Pokedex.

"You know, before you go on your journey, there's something your mother wanted me to give you as a going-away present from her." Max said. "Wait here for a second."

Walking out of the room for a few seconds, Max came back in with an Ultra Ball.

"Inside this Ultra Ball is what, or rather, WHO, your mother wanted me to give you. Her name's Vivee, and she's rather eager to meet you, Takashi." Max said, smiling. Handing Takashi the Ultra Ball, Max gestured for his nephew to let his two Pokemon out of their balls.

"Come on out, you two!" Takashi shouted, throwing the balls into the air. In a burst of rainbow-hued energy, the two Pokemon, now revealed to be a Fennekin and an Eevee, came out to greet their new Trainer...
