Hi! findtheScissorhands here.
So, this is a very short fic based on some silly fanart I made a while ago and posted on DA. For some reason, it became really popular, so here is the written piece. It's just something I would LOVE to see in the series, though I don't think they'll ever make it happen. English is not my mother language and there may be some mistakes. Please feel free to point them out so I can correct them.
Hope you like it :)
It was a beautiful, sunny afternoon, a bit chilly, maybe, but certainly enjoyable. Lina and Gourry were sitting on the grass, resting from another long day of walking aimlessly. They had just finished eating a considerable portion of meat and tomatoes that Lina had "borrowed" from the last inn on the road, and were now satisfied and happy. In the midst of that relative peace, Gourry looked at Lina and somehow felt it was the right time to discuss something that had been twinkling in the back of his seemingly empty head.
- Lina - he said, making her wake up from her own sleepy thoughts.
- ¿Hn?
- Don't you think we should get married?
Lina opened her eyes widely, so fast they almost hurted, and turned to Gourry as if he had become some sort of ghost.
- W-what? - she stuttered, her face turning red.- Why would you say that?
- Why? Umm... - Gourry made an effort to think of a good answer.- I guess I thought it was something that had to be said - he said plainly.
- But how come...? Why?!
- Well, we've been together for a long time... We've fought the bad guys, and visited a lot of places... And I think I love you.
Lina's hands trembled a little as she looked away, now fully embarrassed. And yet she could feel it, the trembling, the warmth...
- You... You "think" you love me? Geez, Gourry... Just... Stop talking - she said dryly.
- Sorry - said Gourry, though Lina couldn`t tell if he was indeed sorry or just used to apologizing to her.
Both of them went silent for a moment, starring at the bright, blue sky.
- So, would you marry me? - asked Gourry then.
Lina set her jaw; her arms crossed, her face turning so red it could have merged with the tomatoes she had just eaten. She felt the warmth, and she fought it. She fought herself, maybe, or what she thought it was a tiny part of her. But it took just that single moment for her to realize, it wasn't that tiny anymore.
Slowly, calmly crawling through the grass, Lina leaned against Gourry and rested her head on his shoulder.
- Yes - she whispered.
Gourry just smiled fondly and put an arm around her.
