AN: So I got this idea when I was listening to this song called Please Leave a Light on When You Go, kay? And I thought, wow, sounds like Bade! So I google it and guess who it's by... An artist named Beck. No, I did not do this on purpose. :) At that point, I was like, okay, this is perfect, I have to do this. So what you see here is a product of a song covered by a band named Fun. and sheer dumb luck. Enjoy!

It was a sort of uneasy feeling
A whisper of
"This isn't right"
That sort of creeps up on you
Stifling, suffocating
Until there isn't much to do
Besides pretend to breathe.

"How fast can a heart shatter
Before you're walking on splinters?"

And Jade was living it.

It was in her blood, her bones
It seemed her veins were made
Of the sort of panic,
The sort of desperation
That made it impossible to think.

She wasn't sure if he felt it too
And she was terrified
That if he did,
They wouldn't be together
For much longer.

"Your head aches just to feel what it knows."

It's painful
To be aware of your surroundings sometimes...

"Please leave a light on when you go."

-
Beck could see it, dammit
That way that she flinched
And looked away
And gasped for breath
And hid from everything...
And there was nothing he could do.

"How can you fix something
That you cant touch without hurting?"

Oh, he'd tried, of course,
Tried to reach out,
Tried to talk to her,
Tried to get her to look, see, think, feel-

"The lesson you've learned
Is leaving you dumb."

Beck gave up
Shut his mouth
Watched her fade,
Tried not to show
She was breaking his heart...

"Please leave a light on when it's done."

Life had a sort of lack of- color to it,
A kind of "What's the point,"
A sort of "You'll fail anyway,"
And it wasn't just because
Of the business Jade was trying to get into.

"How can you see the ending
When you're lost at the beginning?"

-
Beck knew
He wasn't allowed
To worry about her anymore,
But...

Lately,
She'd show up at three in the morning,
Shaking and refusing to look him in the eye,
And wake up early
Trying to leave before he opened his eyes.

She never could-
The minute she would leave his side
The dreams he had
Would leave him.

Beck would reach out,
She'd dodge away,
And if she had any recollection
Of the night before
She hid it a little too well.

"The day hides all
That the night left behind..."

He really was losing her.

"Please leave a light on when it dies."

AN: oh... I did not think it would turn out like this. When I first though of this, it was post-TWC and a lot less angsty. I hope it's easy enough to follow... like, does it make any sense? I really just busted this out in less than an hour- and by the way, sorry it's so short...

I'm thinking of writing a bunch of one-shots, songfics specifically, so if you have any songs that you'd like to see, leave a review and tell me! This will probably be mainly Bade, cuz you know how I am, but I wouldn't mind writing Cabbie or Cade friendship.

So- review! And thanks for reading!
