"What the hell is that?" Magnus muttered under his breath, adjusting to get a better view. The floating car shifted under his weight as he watched a slim, dark figure careening off the edge of Valentine's ship. It was a person he'd know anywhere, and even in this darkness, Magnus recognized him. "Alec!" he shouted, though he knew shouting would be no use. So he did what he had to. Magnus jumped.
His thoughts flew out the window. Any concerns he had for trivial things, like how his new suit would be ruined and how he'd never be able to get the scent of brine and seawater out of his hair, had fully evaporated. His mind became a one-track lane, focused only on saving Alec. Magnus' life meant very little to him now as he swam, heavy clothing weighing him down, because life would be nothing at all without Alec in it.
