Cullen climbed the stairs of his tower, bone tired after his latest excursion. He wanted to check in with the Inquisitor but he knew she would be sleeping and he could really be doing with some sleep himself. He walked into his room dragging at the ties for his pauldrons and the soft fur that covered them. Loosened off he swung them over his shoulder and dropped them onto a chair. He sat perched on the edge of his bed slowly removing his grimy boots and heaved them across the floor in the general direction of the chair. He wasn't usually this scruffy and would normally clean his armor first but Maker, he really needed to sleep. He closed his eyes and heard her voice "Sleep tight you" and felt her tiny hand on his face stroking his scruff. Her soft, earthy scent surrounded him and he moaned gently as he drifted.
When he awoke he looked around his room. He wasn't sure if she had been here last night or if he had dreamt it but her scent still seemed to linger. His eyes fell upon his boots, shining in the sunlight that fell from the hole in the roof of the room. He rubbed his neck as he began to think. He lifted his furry pauldrons and his expression changed immediately and he stormed out of his room and downstairs towards the mess hall.
"Yikes, what happened" mumbled Sera as she caught sight of Cullen striding into the room looking quite grumpy. "I thought everything went well" muttered Cole even though his mouth was full of the crusty baguette currently held in his hand. "It did" replied Varric looking amused at Cullen's obvious discomfort. "You" Cullen roared at Cassandra who was leant against the wall behind the table. "What?" she asked as she moved from the wall and rested her mug on the table. "You washed my pauldrons". "Bullshit" stated Cassandra, glaring at him. "Why would I want to wash your grubby clothes?" she asked as she nabbed a piece of Cole's bread. "They smell like, like flowers...pretty ones"he brandished them towards Cassandra "Smell them, how will anyone take me seriously if I smell like I've been playing with unicorns and chasing rainbows". She leant forward and smelt the proffered garments "I'll admit they smell like me but I didn't do it" she grinned.
"I did" came a voice from behind them. Everyone glanced in that direction and Cullen spun round rather gracefully for one who could be quite clumsy. "Y, you did it " he stuttered. Everyone was still watching the Inquisitor as she stood looking anxiously at Cullen. Sera was chuckling into her hands and Blackwall was grinning. "Well they were getting a bit whiffy and matted so I borrowed some of Cass's washing potion to clean them and then I...I brushed them". She raised her green eyes up towards him as a faint blush spread across her cheeks. "You brushed them", he looked at her distressed. Dorian rose from the table and clapped Cullen on his shoulder. "Would you like me to go and roll them around in the dirt for you" he smirked.
Vivienne waltzed in at this point looking her usual tall and beautiful self, clad in a silk dress that fell to the floor."She does know its only breakfast and not an Orlesian dance"muttered Sera to Solas. Vivienne crossed the room towards Cullen. "Well darling, I am impressed. Its about time you did something about those disgusting things and they smell utterly delightful. Did Cassandra help?" Cullen glared at them all and stormed back out of the room accompanied by everyone dissolving into giggles. Vivienne looked around perturbed by the scene and huffed " Well, what have I said this time?"
