The first poem is based on a Jewish prayer, called "Avinu Malkenu" or "Our Father, Our King". Always found this image a bit scary, how I would relate to a father is different from how I would relate to a king. The High Holidays are coming up so I rewrote this prayer from a certain young man's point of view. This started out as an Ozai poem, but well...sitting on the train, scribbling, my Zuko muse took over. This is for Red November, a great live journal pal and a maxime author. Chapter Four of Love Thy Enemy was amazing and sent chills down my spine. She'll have reviews by this weekend!
Prayer
My Father, My King
I have sinned before your grace
My Father, My King
I bear my shame upon my face
My Father, My King
I beg your pardon for my crime
My Father, My King
Forgive me just one more time
My Father, My King
But I sinned before your throne
My Father, My King
Now in exile I must atone
My Father, My King
You told me in that fiery blast
My Father, My King
You're my king first and my father last
