A/N: I originally wrote this poem in 1986 sometime after the release of Star Trek IV The Voyage Home. It is set at the very end of the movie and is from Spock's POV. Reviews appreciated.

Voyage of Friendship
You and I go quietly on our silent way.
A pause, a look, contains more than words can say.
You fall in step beside me
And we journey on our way
To places few have gone before
And fewer have come away.
You and I have our past here
Within the saline wave,
Yet the different suns whose warmth we were born to
Might have burned our bonds away.
We wore one heart and, in our way,
But one face-
The face of sharp control, of invulnerability.
We shared laughter in the salt spray mere hours ago
Like two boys at play.
Openly I lay my claim to friendship
In the face of one who scorned me.
Openly I take my stand
For who I really am.
And you waited through the passing crowds,
As I did for many years,
To come full circle to the end
Which, in truth, is the beginning anew.
Together, as equals, as brothers,
We take to the starry sea
Where our heart is.
