Requiem For The Crumbled

Category: poem, A
Spoilers: Empedocles
Summary: The silence that takes place after the awakening.
Disclaimer: No, these characters aren't mine.
A/N: A quick Luke Doggett poem, a sort-of companion piece to
Lacrymosa. Another dark piece.
It sounds like silence.
Grass bows under the weight of footsteps.
They crowd around the broken body.
Her gaze seeks him out and he looks away.
He is father to this child that was once a living boy.
Movement echoes over infinitesimal spaces.
Beat of a heartbeat stilled by malice,
Foreign creak of another door
Swinging shut on the world.
He closes his eyes and reaches within for shaky strength.
It sounds like blood.
Force of valves moving open and shut,
Involuntary living in the fleeting vision of charred flesh.
