Author's Note: Just some exposition... Kiyoko is my friend's OC and she is married to Alphonse. I'm kinda doing a little mini-series type thing with a bunch of One-shot's about our experiences with various characters from FMA. Just so you know. ^^" Please R & R.
She looked into his sad eyes and saw herself reflected there. He stumbled towards her, his palms outstretched, his mouth hanging open in despair. Never before had she seen such a look on the face of her beloved, never before had he looked so pitiful and lost. She gasped slightly as he tumbled into her arms, pushing her slender body back against counter. His hands fell limply around her waist and into the soapy water of the sink behind her. He slowly raised them out and grasped her soft brown hair which glittered in the moonlight.
"Strawberries... it always smells of... strawberries..." Alphonse mumbled to himself.
Kiyoko slowly took her hands and moved him away from her so that she could look clearly at him. There were tears streaming down his face and a sad smile playing about his lips.
"Alphonse... what... what happened?" She gasped.
His smile faded and his eyes widened in pain as more tears rolled steadily down his cheeks.
"He's.... he's... all... gone... no more... just..."
"Who!? Who's gone?" She asked, close to tears herself. Such pain he was in, such horror on his face!
"All... gone... no..." he mumbled again.
"Who?" She pleaded, stroking his face, whiping the tears only to make room for the next set rolling down his cheeks. "Sweet heart, please... who?!"
"Brother."
Kiyoko stopped. "What?"
"Brother. He's... gone. He's... dead."
Now Kiyoko's eyes widened in fear and disbelief. "What?" She whispered.
A crazed smile slipped back onto Al's face as he pointed to a slip of paper at the entrance to the kitchen. "There. A letter came today... I … I was busy... just opened it now... and... he's... he's... he's... dead."
Tears welled up in Kiyoko's eyes as she drew her husband close, wraping him in her small arms.
"He's gone! GONE! GONE!" He moaned gripping her tightly as they sobbed into each other's arms. "Why now? Why at all!? GONE!"
