(Author's note: :D Here's a little LightxL oneshot for you guys. XD My updates will probably be a few days apart, but I'll try to post some little oneshots and such more often. And remember, reviews keep me going like sweet, sweet caffeine. Mm, caffeine. I might take couple suggestions, too, so feel free to send me a message with your suggestions.)
Every now and then, Light questioned if he could really kill L.
It's not like he hated the guy. I mean, what were a few fistfights, near constant heated debates and accusations of large-scale murder between friends?
…Okay, bad examples. Still, truth be told, he and L had more in common than you would think. When L wasn't coldly calculating percentages pertaining to Light's guilt and Light wasn't at the detective's throat, they got along quite well. They had their good and bad moments, like any normal people do. And then they had…well, their harder to categorize moments.
Like the times when L would actually sleep, and Light found himself suddenly unable to. And he would find himself lying in the bed they had to share thanks to those damned handcuffs, watching the older man sleep and feeling somewhat grateful that he was the only one who saw him that way.
Then there were the times just after the rest of the investigation team had gone home. L would coerce the teen into the kitchen for one of what Light had deemed his 'cake breaks', and Light would grudgingly sit at the table as he waited for the detective to finish eating. After a while, he realized he didn't mind the interruption to the investigation that much when he got to see the small smile that tugs at the corners of L's mouth every time he takes his first bite of cake.
And, although they were few and far between, there were the times when Light couldn't control himself. Moments when he couldn't stop himself from running his fingers through the detective's dark hair, or from leaning in and brushing their lips together. L never said anything to encourage those moments, but he certainly wasn't doing anything to stop them, and that was good enough for Light. Eventually he pushed the moments a little farther. A brush of the lips turned to a soft kiss that gradually became more heated, and just a little more desperate.
Light sighed, pulling away from the kiss and wrapping his arms around L's thin frame in a hug.
There was no way he could kill him.
