Ruins As They Were
By SMYGO4EVA

Vampires.

Blood-seeking demons.

Creatures of the night.

Soulless creatures seeking the lifeblood of the living, so they would sustain an immortal fate that was a damned as them. They didn't choose that path of tasting the ruby liquid upon their lips and living another day as a blood-seeker, a harvester of lifeblood, and one with no soul. They would also have many other conquests other than blood, like the soul, the essence, and the very being of a human, something they have become less of.

Kamui was used to being a creature of darkness, a nightmare to people who believed in such folklore, fairy tales and stories of horror from the olden days, and he had grown since he mutated into something so horrible, but he resigned to that fate. He resigned to being the spider that would eat the fly and drain it of what little blood it had left, almost emotionless when the deed was taken care of. A monster, as they would call him, but one that is swift and flows in the slick tendrils of darkness from now on.

Fai was used to the light, though at times it felt like his own mind was trying to draw a curtain across it, as if there was something that he should be in the dark about. Whether that meant he should be literally in the dark or he should try to take his mind off things wasn't exactly clear. He was not used to anything quite like the dark of being a vampire though. This was new to him. This was not something he ever expected to take practice in, nor did he want the fate handed to him. If not for the cursed fate, he would rather have bid Death's sweet call and gladly have taken its hand.

Nonetheless, Kamui was used to the dark and Fai, the magician of light, was not. Ruby liquid was the life-force of the blood seekers, and without it, they would have just died a second death, or taken Death's hand when they had the chance. Now creatures that lust for blood, their humanity is almost lost. As an immortal being, they would have to be used to the dark, the twilight that never seemed to have a conclusion, for it would be following them for as long as time itself. The ruins as they were would cast a shadow against the light of the midnight moon that would continue for all eternity.

Vestiges of humanity were what they have become, left of the ruins as they were.
