As he watched the snow fall slowly Castiel thought back to the time he lived in heaven with his siblings. A time no war was threatening to destroy the human race and he was happy with them, sharing stories about the past.
But nothing stayed this way and there was no more happiness for the angel until he raised Dean from hell.
Dean was nothing like his brothers. He was harsh, rude and referred to things Castiel had no idea of. But still he made him happy like nobody had in a very long time. Castiel realized only when it was already too late that he was falling in love with the human and was ready to give up everything just to be with him.
One day after a long and exhausting hunt he couldn't keep his secret any longer and he told Dean. Told him that he loved him, that he would give everything to make him happy.
And to his surprise Dean didn't send him away or shouted at him. Instead he smiled and gave Castiel a small gentle kiss and then muttered soft, "I'm happy, it's not just me."
"Castiel", a voice brought the angel out of his thoughts, "why are you not in bed?" The angel smiled and turned around to look at Dean who was watching him through half open eyes.
"Can you see it", he asked instead of answering and turned back to the window, "can you see the snow father sends?"
Castiel kept his eyes fixed on the white flakes snowing down on earth as he heard the sheets rustle and footsteps coming near. He leaned back into the warmth of Deans body as the man wrapped his arms around the angel – his angel – and put his head on Castiels shoulder.
"It is beautiful", Dean said and the other man smiled happily.
They still stood there in silence an hour later watching the snow fall when Sam found them.
