Thomas, Rosie and Duck in Never Overlook A Little Engine
Set 9 months after Sodor's Legend of the Lost Treasure
Thomas was a little grumpy.
"Gordon again?" asked Rex.
"Yeah he called me a silly little engine again." sighed Thomas. "I'm afraid the song boosted my over-confidence last time."
"We'll see what it does this time." said Bert.
"Ok." agreed Thomas.
"And a one and a two and a one, two, three, four." puffed Mike and soon they began singing Never Overlook A Little Engine for a second time in 9 weeks.
"Never overlook a little engine
Little ones are really useful too
We've got trucks to pull
So make 'em extra full
I've never known a job that I couldn't do
"With a little help from me maybe!"
Never overlook a little engine
We can take you where you want to go
We may have tiny track
But we'll get you there and back
And hold on to your hats
We don't go slow
"Look out, Thomas!"
If you think that bigger's better
Then you're making a mistake
The ocean isn't wetter than a tiny little lake
A cherry might be tastier than a great big cake
And we can turn around in half the time those big guys take
Never overlook a little engine
We have set our sights upon the sky
You need a lot of puff
Being big is not enough
I've never known a job that I wouldn't try
"Ha, ha! Me neither!"
"Nor me!"
Never overlook a little engine
Like me, like me, like me
Like us!"
They Sang. Duck and Rosie heard this.
"Excellent Thomas, Rex, Bert and Mike." puffed Rosie.
"It was superb." admitted Duck but he looked worried. "Thomas please don't get full of yourself again."
"I will try not too." puffed Thomas and so he, Duck and Rosie puffed to Knapford.
"Where have you been you silly little engine." grumbled Gordon. "Fetch my coaches."
"Gordon please do it yourself I have a branch line and I maybe called for other business." admitted Thomas.
"Important engines don't fetch their own coaches!" snapped Gordon.
Thomas sighed and fetched Gordon's coaches but Gordon didn't say anything and puffed off.
"GR! Sometimes I hate Gordon!" he growled.
"Calm down Thomas." puffed Rosie.
"Yes Thomas calm down one day Gordon will learn big is not always better." puffed Duck.
"I hope so." puffed Thomas crossly and puffed off.
Next day Gordon rushed so fast with the express that he bursted his safety valve...for the first time in years.
The Fat Controller was cross.
"Gordon you've been rushing so fast that some of your passengers look unwell I am going to ask another engine to take the Express." he said but he could only find Thomas, Percy and Toby. "You three will have to do it."
"Remember Thomas never overlook a little engine." reminded Duck who was pulling the Slip Coaches to Knapford.
"Correct." smiled Thomas. "Trust me Percy and Toby."
"Ok." said Percy feeling unsure.
"We trust you." sighed Toby.
"They won't move the train." snorted Gordon.
"Don't think bigger is always better Gordon." puffed Rosie pulling a goods train to Tidmouth and soon Thomas, Percy and Toby were pulling the Express to Wellsworth and all three were tired.
"Rex, Bert and Mike were right big isn't always better." smiled Thomas with a prolonged sigh.
That evening Duck, Toby and Rosie stayed at Tidmouth sheds.
"Evening all." smiled Duck.
"How cocky was I?" asked Thomas.
"Not too cocky but I must admit being cocky gets all of us including me into lots of trouble." admitted Duck.
"Thank you for admitting Duck." smiled the Fat Controller. "Everyone remember that wheater you are big or small you are all..."
"Really Useful." smiled Thomas, Duck, Rosie, Percy and Toby and they all laughed.
The End
