WHY THEY LIKE THE RAIN

AUTHOR'S NOTE/DISCLAIMER

Just finished watching "A Cinderella Story" and got inspired. Post movie. Belongs to Disney. I'm not sure what her major is or how Princeton has their housing set up, so I'm making some stuff up.

Samantha "Sam" Montgomery blew out a breath and moved her hair out of her eyes. She had been studying for hours. Just then, her cell phone rang. She pressed the 'talk' button.

"Hello?" she asked.

"Working hard?" her boyfriend, Austin Ames, questioned.

"Yeah. I could totally use a break though," Sam replied.

"Then come outside. It's gorgeous out," Austin told her.

"Okay," Sam agreed. Phone and keys in hand, she stood up and walked out of her room and out of the cottage that she was staying in. On the porch was her boyfriend.

"Hey, Pretty Girl," he greeted. She leaned in and kissed him. "Come on, let's go for a walk," he suggested. They headed for the clearing away from the houses, holding hands.

"So, how's your day been so far?" Sam wondered.

"Good. Yours?" Austin replied.

"Mine's been good too," Sam told him.

"That's good," Austin stated. For a few minutes, they walked in silence.

"It's such a gorgeous day," Austin commented, looking at the sky.

"It really is," Sam agreed. "I think that's why I got restless so quickly," she continued.

"Well, I hear it's supposed to start raining some time today," he said.

"Hope we don't have too wait long," she grinned. He chuckled. To their friends' surprise, the two loved the rain. They just didn't understand. They had shared their first kiss in the rain. They had declared their independence in the rain. The rain had been their turning point. They continued walking, talking to each other in soft tones. All of a sudden, Austin felt something hit his head. With a gasp, he looked up. He and Sam laughed as the rain continued to fall, the onslaught becoming harder.

"Oh, my gosh! I guess we didn't have to wait that long for the rain," Sam giggled.

"No. I guess not," Austin agreed with a chuckle. He took her face into his hands and pulled her closer. Their lips touched and they got lost in each other. This was it. How their relationship had started--in the rain. The rain had ended one part of their lives and had started another. The rain meant a fresh start. And that's why they would always like the rain.
