Angels
Maxie Jones crossed her arms under her chest and let out a breath as she gazed down at her little sister's grave. A whole year had gone by since her sister was murdered that cold December night. Unshed tears burned her eyes and a sob was stuck in her throat. She fell to her knees on the snowy ground and a gloved hand traced over the letters engraved on the cool stone. The snow soaked through her black designer pants but she didn't care. "Hey Georgie." she said, sniffling softly as the tears spilled down her red cheeks. "I miss you so much Georgie. I can't believe it has been a whole year since..." She trailed off and squeezed her eyes shut. Opening them once again she smiled. "Alot has happened since then Georgie. Spinelli and I became friends when we searched for the person who took you away from us. A couple months ago,Robin and Patrick had a little girl. Her name is Alyssa. Mac spoils her alot. Spinelli spoils her too. He is always buying her toys and things even though she isn't related to him."
Suddenly she heard the crunching of snow and slowly turned to look over her shoulder, behind her. Damian Spinelli stood there dressed in a pair of plack dress slacks and a cobalt blue sweater. His soft brown, leather coat was left open. He held a bouquet of yellow flowers in his hand.
Maxie let a smile curve her lips as she stood up from the ground, brushing the snow off her pants. "Hey Spinelli." She said, gazing up at him with her wide blue eyes.
Spinelli smiled back at her before his gaze fell to the gravestone. The smile disappeared from his face and his eyes became sad as he kneeled infront of the grave, placing the flowers on it. His hands rested against his lips and he didn't say anything for a few moments. "This is the exact time of night that The Jackal found Wise Georgie on those steps helpless and...lifeless." He finally said, his eyes becoming dark and haunted as he remembered that night.
Maxie sat down beside him and wrapped her arms around his waist, resting her chin on his shoulder. "Did you know that Winter was Georgie's favorite season? She said that the snow made everything seem so...pure and magical." She laughed fondly at the sweet memory.
"Georgie was a gift." Spinelli replied, saying the words he'd said to Dillion almost a year ago. Reaching into his pocket,he took out a small, white candle, lit it and sat it on the cool stone gently. He stood up slowly, helping Maxie off of the ground.
"I think...I think Georgie would be happy for us." Maxie said, swallowing nervously as her blond hair whipped around her face in the cold wind. "I mean, she loved us both. I think she woul be glad to see that we are friends, that we are happy.
Spinelli smiled softly and pulled his best friend, the woman he was in love with, into a gentle hug. He buried his face in her soft, sweet smelling hair and rubbed her back a little before pulling away from her. "We better be getting out of here. I wouldn't want Maximista to catch a cold." He told her, removing his coat and draping it over her shoulders.
"Thanks Spin." Maxie whispered as he put his arm on the small of her back, guiding her torwards her car.
Maxie turned her head slightly,as they walked, looking back torwards where her sister laid. She smiled softly. Even though Georgie was gone and she would always miss her,she would forever be grateful for the gift Georgie had given her in Spinelli.
The End
