The Archive
It was non-descript, drab really - a simple black notebook that seemed to be in Kyoya Ootori's hands at all times when the Host Club was in session. No one was allowed to see its contents which made the notebook, like its owner, mysterious and alluring.
Tamaki wasn't very interested in knowing what its contents were as long as the Host Club remained a functioning unit. The twins speculated endlessly. Mori and Honey wondered, but didn't dare ask. And Haruhi? She occasionally leaned over while Kyoya's pen scratched away at the pages and he, much to everyone's surprise, allowed her to take a peek; but there never seemed to be anything more than notes about clients' backgrounds, ledger columns filled with numbers and the occasional side note about future cosplays.
It was all very business-like until one of Kyoya's migraines struck with sudden ferocity after club hours one day and the Shadow King was settled on a sofa with a cup of tea and his meds. He argued, relenting only when Tamaki threatened to call Kyoya's older brother, Yuuichi-sensei. The meds had a calming effect and soon the bespectacled host closed his eyes and nodded his head into a doze.
Here was their chance, perhaps their one and only, to find out the contents of the notebook. It wasn't ethical, but who could blame them? Behind the early pages that held club data, they discovered a cache of other writings secured to the back cover by a rubber band, so they weren't easily seen. And so began their reading of the archive that was Kyoya's Notebook.
